This week I'm sending my weekly to EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of my subscribers for free. It felt important to share this missive with all y'all. If you enjoy, I hope you'll consider becoming a paid subscriber. I will be evolving this space deeply in 2025 to include all sorts of goodies for paid subscribers. I can't tell you how much it means to have my readers support my work.
In a world where understanding where and how to share content feels more and more like Mad Max, Substack is a sweet reprieve filled with fertile soil. In order to continue to grow my content output here, I do need your support. Any time you share or subscribe or become a paid subscriber, it allows me to pour more into this space.
With all that said, enjoy This Week in the Stars! β¨ Hereβs what you can expect here:
Intro informed by whatever is on my mind this week
Overview of lunar phases for the week and what they may mean for your energy
Write up on each astrological transit for the week
January is such a long year (even when there isn't a hateful, rapist, fascist puppeteering the U.S.) and there's an astro explanation for it. We're navigating the arctic tundra of back-to-back Saturn ruled seasons - both Cap and Aquarius answer to the cosmic daddy of lessons and discipline. And Saturn's core attributes? GIVING LESSONS. Trimming the fat. Making us look real hard at what needs to shift for success. Offering greater discernment. But damn Saturn, it feels so long and cold and hard (I may as well be describing a speculum, which frankly this January has been just as probing).
Generally in my personal practice, I don't actually acknowledge the start of a new year until we welcome Lunar New Year (which coincides with the second new moon after Winter Solstice). And besties, we've finally made it to both the final week of this liminal frozen hellscape known as January AND Lunar New Year! As we welcome the Year of the Wood Snake with the Aquarius New Moon on Wednesday (last seen in 1965 - a year that brought us the Watts Rebellion, the Voting Rights Act, and massive social change), we're all being called to shed our old skins and embrace transformation. The parallels between then and now feel particularly potent as we swim in all this revolutionary Aquarius energy.
FYI my February books are now open! I have super limited availability so if you are interested in working together I suggest grabbing your spot now! In an aim to make astrology as accessible as possible, I now open up 5 sliding scale priced slots per month. You can book that here! I am also still pumping out Stellar Sight 2025 offerings which include a 25 minute recorded overview of your astro year ahead and a visual spell to help you attract/magnetize your 2025 intentions. The Aquarius New Moon is a great time to do this for yourself! Book that here for only $69 (whatta steal tbh).
Letβs Get Lunar π
Dark Moon > New Moon > Waxing Crescent is our progression this week. We go from communing with the dark goddesses and sitting in the void, to fertilizing our soil with Aquarian dreams of revolution and community care to feeling like a baby deer to just learning to use our long legs as we move forward (slowly but surely) with new found hope. This isnβt a week for DOING but rather DREAMING. This is mirrored by the Moon finding itself in Aquarius and Pisces most of the week, offering a chance to really root down into our dreams before releasing them into the ether and see what stars they become to guide us forward.
Dark Moon: Time for deep listening, dropping into stillness, and receiving whatever messages are trying to come through from the void. Perfect for meditation, journaling your downloads, or just letting yourself rest in the unknown. A ripe time for communing with dark goddesses like Hekate, Lilith, Circe. ICYMI in my subscriber chat I put out a call for folks to share their charts with me for a big Lilith research project Iβm working on over there. If you are interested in participating please jump in the chat!
New Moon: Plant your seeds of intention in that fertile Aquarian soil - think community projects, innovative ideas, and dreams bigger than just yourself. For some this can feel like a time for active magick making, for others it will be a time for rest and dreaming. Listen to your body under this New Moon and always do what is best for you.
Waxing Crescent: Like a tender sprout just emerging, this phase asks us to nurture our new intentions with patience. Don't force growth - instead, give gentle attention to what's starting to emerge. Take small, steady steps toward your vision while staying flexible about how it might unfold.
Remember bbβs, with Mars still retrograde in Cancer, there's no rush to charge ahead. Let yourself wobble like that baby deer - sometimes finding our new legs means taking it slow and trusting the process.

Monday, January 27th: Mercury enters Aquarius
Mercury, our cosmic messenger, is graduating from Cap's business school into Aquarius's think tank for the next 2.5 weeks. Where Mercury in Cap had us organizing spreadsheets, Mercury in Aquarius has us questioning if spreadsheets are even real.
Mercury gets to zoom at full speed in Aquarius, it's like your brain got zapped by friendly aliens - in the best way. Expect conversations that start about the weather and end up questioning the nature of reality, wild solutions to old problems, group chats that turn into revolution planning sessions, ideas that sound crazy but actually make do make perfect sense, and the urge to reach out to people who speak your particular brand of strange. Perfect time to let your thoughts get experimental and connect with people who make your neurons dance. Let the breakthroughs breakthrough and take notes!

Wednesday, January 29th: Mercury conjunct Aquarius, Lunar New Year/Aquarius New Moon
Itβs a VERY potent day, besties. Not long after the clock strikes midnight, Mercury meets up with Pluto at 1Β° Aquarius. If you didn't know, Mercury's got some serious underworld street cred. In mythology, they were the only deity who could slide into the underworld unscathed, delivering messages between the realms of the living and dead. So when our cosmic messenger meets up with the lord of transformation? Expect some deep truths and revolutionary insights to surface about our collective Pluto in Aquarius journey.of the Snake. Like the snake shedding its old skin to emerge renewed, we're collectively being asked to release outdated patterns and build entirely new containers for change. This isn't just any New Moon - with Sun, Moon, Mercury AND Pluto all stacked up in Aquarius while making sweet aspects to expansive Jupiter, we're being called to reimagine what these containers could even look like.
This is our first New Moon since Pluto permanently moved into Aquarius, making it extra potent for planting seeds of revolution. I'm not talking about your typical "new year, new me" intentions - we're being called to imagine what's possible when we work together for collective transformation. What could we create if we dreamed beyond our personal wishes into what might serve the whole? What revolutionary acts are ready to sprout from this fertile soil? Stay tuned for my full New Moon guide dropping tomorrow with even more details and ritual suggestions! β¨
Thursday, January 30th: Uranus stations direct in Taurus, Sun in Aquarius trine Jupiter in Gemini
The revolution is about to get real(er). Uranus has been sparking more internal ideas around rebellion, innovation and change since September 1st when it went retrograde, stirring up quiet changes and underground insights. Now, as it stations direct, we're about to see those internalized shifts start to manifest in the external world. But don't expect everything to snap into perfect motion just yet. Mars is still doing its retrograde crab walk, so while the path is clearing, we might not be sprinting full speed ahead. Think of it like removing the barricades on a detour β you're not back to your old route, but a whole new landscape is opening up, and damn, is it inspiring.
Also happening today: the Sun in Aquarius parties with Jupiter in Gemini. This air sign trine is pure social magic - think group chats that spark genius ideas, conversations that lead to unexpected opportunities, and connections that feel destined. You might find yourself getting validation for ideas you've been nervous to share, stumbling into exactly the right people or information, finding the perfect words to express what's been brewing or see how all the pieces fit together. The download channels are OPEN bb, and the vibes are extra playful. This week has been filled with many breakthrough crescendo moments and today is yet another.
Saturday, February 1st: Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces (for the last time)
Remember that diatribe I wrote about Neptune and the North Node making everything confusing and propaganda-ridden right now? (Find that in the second half of last week's intro). WELL, Venus is joining that party. And don't get me wrong, there are some REALLLLLY stunning and beautiful things about this transit. But before we dive into that I just want to share a precautionary message about getting lost in the rose-colored glasses. And maybe you're like, "fuck it lily. let me wear my gd rose colored glasses for one moment after all this." I hear you bb. Just remember that confusion might start looking extra dreamy rn, especially when it comes to propaganda that seems just rosy.
Now that we've got that reality check out of the way... let's talk about how delicious and honey-soaked this transit can be. We're witnessing the final Venus-Neptune meetup in Pisces - like, ever (at least in our lifetime). We're at the end of Neptune's 14-year swim through Pisces, an era that brought us spiritualism, soft girl core, and aura ombre dreams. This last dance between Venus and Neptune is opening the floodgates for:
Pure poetry in motion
Chasing your muse wherever she leads
Getting lost in the divine dream
Embracing that EVERYTHING IS ROMANTIC or rather finding romance at every turn
Soon Neptune will trade these dreamy waters for Aries fire + individuation, but for now? Let yourself float in the magic and romance. Want to work with this dreamy energy? Create an altar space that invites artistic inspiration, turn on your most mystical playlist and let yourself dance into divine connection. Draw yourself a ritual bath with rose petals and sea salt, pull some cards about what magic wants to flow through you. Write love letters - to yourself, others, or the divine - or make art without judgment or expectation. Imbue a piece of your jewelry with this muse-worthy energy.
My February books are open at goodhussey.com. I would love to spend time with you in astro space. I am now offering 5 sliding scale reading openings per month. If you have been wanting to get a reading but feel financially strained this is a great option!
