These first few weeks of April did not come to play. I just want to say if you have been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotional, angry - or maybe your feelings are super dissonant - you are not alone. The pressure in the Aries part of our charts is very, very real right now.
I’m going to jump right into the Aries Solar Eclipse coming to us on Monday 4/8. The big thing about this Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse is that it’s conjunct Chiron. When planets are conjunct they highly influence one another, essentially their energies merge and they operate together (as best they can). Chiron is an asteroid that you may have referred to as the wounded healer. In mythology, Chiron was a centaur who was birthed from Kronos (Saturn) raping the Sea Nymph, Philyra. This half horse, half human was rejected by his mother for appearing grotesque to her. Apollo took Chiron under his wing and taught him medicine, music, astrology and so much more. He became a well-known scholar and mentored many heroes, include Hercules. In a battle, he was accidentally shot with a poison arrow by his friend Hercules. This should have caused a mortal wound buuut Chiron was immortal. Despite being a master of medicine, healing, and pharmacy, Chiron could not heal himself and was sentenced to eternal pain and agony. Chiron went to Zeus and begged for mortality, the God granted it to him and Chiron died of his wound and was placed among the stars in the constellation Centaurus.
In astrology, Chiron speaks to:
Our human nature vs our animal nature
Abandonment, shame, neglect
How we reparent ourselves
Our biggest wounds and traumas
Our innate healing powers
Turning pain into power
The Solar Eclipse has all the Chiron themes ON BLAST with an Aries flavor which brings up wounds around our individuality, people pleasing, self-sabotaging, deep insecurity, urgency, autonomy, and authenticity. This eclipse allows us to get to the heart of our shame and these wounds and HEAL them. I can’t lie though, it may feel like we are sticking a finger in the wound and the tendency is to pick at it. Instead, how can you take a step back and witness the wound - witness how these themes show up for you and in turn choose to change them or grow beyond them?
Eclipses are periods when times feels sped up and the inevitable falls into place in our lives. They are massively intense celestial experiences that align us to our greater fate, whether through stripping away what was no longer needed or presenting us with a new job. Although you may usually manifest on New Moons, I personally VERY MUCH DO NOT RECOMMEND MANIFESTING DURING ECLIPSES. Yes, it’s gotta be in shouty caps, because there is so many takes on this throughout the internet. Eclipses work on a completely different cycle of time than we are used to engaging with (the Saros cycle which works in 18 year cycles). When we try to interject or control this big-picture cycle, things generally end up chaotic. So it’s preeeetty likely your manifestations would not play out as you intended.
What this time is GREAT for is some extra self-care which can look like rest, taking a bath, going on a hike, witnessing your feelings and acknowledging them by writing about them, journaling, exercising, gardening, dancing….you get the idea!
This Eclipse is likely going to feel extra messy because Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Aries too. This transit is causing some serious dissonance IMHO. Mercury retrograde wants us to slow down and reflect, reconsider, revisit or rework. But Mercury in Aries is impulsive, reactive and ready to jump into verbal combat. VERY AT ODDS. You may be witnessing this in yourself and those around you at this time. I encourage you, as best you can, to give yourself and others some extra grace at this time.
PHEW. This is a biggie y’all. If you are out there chasing the eclipse, good luck and safe travels to you. Sending everyone an extra bit of sweetness as we all move through our wounds individually and collectively.
