This year I am in an 11th House profection year, making my time-lord Venus. If you just went “what in the what is this astro-babble” - this is an ancient timing technique that gives interesting color to your personal calendar year ahead. And if you ever book a Year-Ahead Reading for your birthday with me, we will do this! But essentially, every year of your life is related to one of the 12 houses, and the ruler of the zodiac sign that rules that house becomes your time lord. So if you like me are in your 34th year, you are also in your 11th House Year. My 11th House is ruled by Taurus, and since Taurus is ruled by Venus, Venus is my time-lord. Venus is my shining light this year.
Phew, thanks for getting here with me. All this to say, I have really been trying to embody my Venus ruled year by going with what flows, by moving towards what comes to me, by actually receiving. This has been quite an interesting task as someone who has a natal Venus in Capricorn - I like to lead and dominate and feel worthy of what I receive from my hard work. JUST receiving, AND with ease? HAHAHA. BUT, I have really taken this challenge to heart, it’s just one turn around the sun after all.
The other important thing you need to know about me being in a Venus ruled year is my recommitment to my jewelry practice and business. By going with the flow, following the muse, and receiving what she has to offer I have finally realized my creative POV. In short, I’m a jewelry witch. And this year has been about sorting out some foundational parts of my jewelry witch business. It has been nothing like I expected, much slower than I would like, and absolutely delightful.
Over the last 2.5 years I have been slowly making objects in alignment with certain planetary ingresses and transits to turn into jewelry that will then support the wearer in tapping into the archetypal energy of that planet. I’m essentially making sigils out of metal and stones. I’m casting spells. I’m consecrating my work with intention for those who wear it. And I feel so alive doing this. I feel so alive watching people connect with what I make and in turn active their own magic. I believe deeply in our rituals of adornment. Whether you know it or not, when you pick up that ring you wear every day, it’s a powerful ritual. I’m obsessed with this idea and making talismanic jewelry that can support people through the mundane act of getting ready for the day. A little bit of magic for all our mundane.
To make a left turn, Instagram has become a really sad place for makers. What was one a thriving community is now a russian roulette of all the people who won’t see my post. I’ve worked in social media for the last decade, so I may find myself extra bitter. I have so much story I desire to tell through my jewelry, and Instagram used to be a great place to do that. Since it no longer is, I’m here to try something new. I’m going to use this space to introduce new pieces.
So without further ado I would like to introduce you to some of the new pieces to enter my Venus Collection.
The Sevens
The Sevens: These charm earrings have been a vision in my mind for over 3 years. For a very long time I have wanted to bring the planetary numbers to life in a visually interesting way. Each planet has a number associated with it, this number becomes important in astrological magic workings and rituals. 7 is associated with Venus, the planet of beauty, money and receiving. It's no wonder that 777 is celebrated as the ultimate jackpot!
This year while Venus was exalted in Pisces, I finally brought my vision to life by creating these. I had hit the jewelry hoarder jackpot in finding a bunch of these vintage-style gold-plated shell charms. I immediately knew how they needed to be used - to contain a spell of course! I hand carve the 7’s, attached a vintage fresh-water pearl followed by the shell charm. Inside the shell is a rose-petal spell for attraction. When I cast my spell for the wearer, I place these earrings on Agrippa’s Venus Square while claiming these earrings as beacons of attraction for their wearer. As these have been in the R+D mode, only a few have them, but I must say what they have shared backed with me in wearing these is wildly magical. . You have two ways to harness these talismans:
Enjoy them as they are, allowing their innate Venusian energy to enhance the flow of attraction in your life.
Activate them yourself for specific intentions, focusing the earrings' magical properties towards your desired form of attraction
The Conch
The Conch: One of Venus’ attributes in astrology is harmony. Harmony in the sense of bringing disparate things/ideas together to create something unexpectedly beautiful. These mixed metal stud-back shells were made to bring more harmony to the wearers life. They themselves were born out of this very idea! The shells were created a few years ago when Venus was in Pisces, but it wasn’t until a later Venus in Pisces transit that they came together to reveal the way in which they wanted to be harmonized.
Each pair has been ritually charged on Agrippa's Venus Square, an ancient magical sigil, to resonate with the planet's harmonizing energies. By wearing these earrings, one invites Venus's influence to foster greater equilibrium and grace in their personal sphere.
A Visual Spell to Venus
Earlier this year I started making my version of merch - wearable odes to astrology and wearable spells. I’ve been sitting on this for a while because I wanted to release her during a Venus-ruled season. Say hello to this wearable spell for magnetizing your desires toward you. Featuring Venus’ number, an incantation to Venus inspired by her Orphic hymn, Agrippa’s Venus Square, and a Venus Star. And of course, a rose! This is a wearable altar and offering to Venus herself.
