Let's Make Magick before Eclipse Season

The Virgo New Moon 2024 is our last lunation before eclipse season takes over.

First things first, if you read my Virgo Season Guide (which you should if you haven’t!) I misspoke slightly on this New Moon. I’m a human, we make errors, thanks for understanding. The guide has been updated and I’m here to tell you this is our last lunation to make MAGICK before eclipse season sets in later this month. Plus, it’s our last New Moon of the summer - a moment to soak up the sweetness of the end of this season as we look ahead to autumn. Today’s New Moon at 11° Virgo is all about meticulous tending, focused caring, and delicate nurturing.

Here's what the darkness of the New Moon is asking us to look at:

• Consider how you're spending your precious minutes and hours. Is your schedule aligned with your energy levels, values and ambitions?

• Take a good, hard look at your physical space and routines. Do they reflect your inner world? If not, it’s a great time to take action to make them so.

• Remember, even the most mundane tasks can be magical. Like I mentioned in my Virgo Season Guide - “Your morning coffee becomes a grounding practice, tidying up transforms into a space creating ritual, and skincare evolves into a daily act of glamour magick.”

• What does service REALLY mean to you? And are you in service to yourself and your goals, or just running on that hamster wheel of life?

This New Moon is ruled by Mercury, the trickster planet of communication, who recently came out of retrograde. This New Moon may be providing a serious dose of much needed clarity after the fog (and frustration) of retrograde. Think of this New Moon as a fresh start of sorts for the realms of the mind. Plus, Mercury is approaching a square with zany and insightful Uranus, perhaps giving you a boost of innovative ideas (jot them down before they evaporate)! You could be motivated to make lists, clear out clutter and zero in on the pragmatic ins and outs of how you’ll achieve whatever goal you’ve pinpointed.

The most major aspect to this New Moon is its opposition to BIG DADDY SATURN - who may have us questioning the structure of our existing game plans and ambitions.
Here are the big questions Saturn's throwing our way:

• Are your daily decisions and actions aligned with how you want to show up in the world?

• How are you building your long-term goals into your daily routines?

• What needs to be restructured in your life to provide you more long term and sustainable success?

• How is fear holding you back?
  

In general we are being asked to balance progress and perfection on this New Moon. What aspects of the systems that contain our lives need to taken apart and deep cleaned before putting them back together?

Suggested Rituals for this New Moon

1. Automatic Writing Exercise
   Tap into the power of Mercury with some automatic writing. It's a process of writing without conscious control or intent. This technique allows you to explore your subconscious mind and achieve uncensored expression. Think of it as letting your intuition take the wheel while your conscious mind takes a backseat.
   
   Find a quiet space where you won't be disturbed. Take a few grounding breaths and cleanse your space with herbal smoke if you so desire. If you partake in smoking herbs of any sort, this could be a nice addition. Grab a pen and paper (or your laptop if you prefer typing). Set a timer for 6 minutes. Start writing. Don't stop, don't edit, don't worry about spelling or grammar. Just let the words flow, even if they don't make sense at first. If you get stuck, write "I don't know what to write" or “blah blah blah” until something else comes. The key is to keep your hand moving until the timer goes off. This was your warm up.
   
   Now we are gonna ask for some specific insight. This could be:
   “What do I need clarity on during this New Moon?”

   “What messages of insight or care taking need to come to me at this time?”

   “What messages does Mercury desire to deliver to me?”
   Or something else entirely that makes sense to you.
   Set your timer for 10 minutes and let you pen rip.
   
   Now take a moment to read your insights and see what information came through to support you at this time.
   

2. Write Future YOU a letter
   Can you tell I love WRITING rituals for Virgo? LOL. After reading this overview and letting the waves of the New Moon wash over you when you consider if you are spending your time in a way that is supporting your long term goals, make a list of what exactly it is you would like to intentionally move towards, build or create in your life over the next 6-months. Keep in mind you can spend a few days doing this, you DO NOT need to complete all of this on the day of the New Moon. I would suggest taking up to the next week to complete this ritual.
   
   After you have taken time to consider your list of desired intentions, write a letter to yourself that you will open during the Virgo Full Moon on March 14, 2025. In the letter outline all of your desired intentions as if you have already achieved them. You are recounting to your future self all the steps you have taken over the next 6 months to move towards achieving your intentions. Include all the details you can stand and be sure to mention how proud of you you are for all the hard work and determination. Talk about the small ways you made your intention come to life through tiny, daily actions or minor shifts in your calendar.
   
   Words have power, remember ABRACADABRA means “I create as I speak”, and that is just what you are doing with this letter. You are creating the roadmap for achieving your desired intentions. Be sure to sign off to yourself with “so mote it be” or “so it is” or “abracadabra”. If you are feeling extra fancy you can seal the letter with wax. Place the letter on your altar or somewhere else visible and be sure to label on the outside when to open it and read it.
   

3. Create a Phone Screen Saver Vision Board

   This is one of my fav magickal practices and it’s so simple. It’s great for anytime you have something you are working towards or just need a reset of intention in your life. You can use Canva, Photoshop or any app you like for this. I also really like the Pinterest Shuffles app for this. Hunt for images and words that represent what you are working towards. Use them to make a digital collage you are going to make your phone screen saver for the next 6 months. Get extra fancy and draw your own sigils to add to the collage. While you are making this piece of digital art, really allow yourself to FEEL yourself achieving/obtaining the ideas/success/items you are putting in your collage. As you are making it, you want to imbue this image with that feeling that you already have achieved all of these things. Be sure to include the words abracadabra somewhere on your collage. Allow yourself to bask in the feeling of having already achieved this things anytime you look at this image on your phone.
