What a holiday season it has been! IDK about you but the retrogrades have brought some serious stop, no go, no actually STOP energy to this super busy time of year. Almost none of my plans have gone as planned, and it's forced some much needed slow down (albeit with some frustrations). We've certainly been asked to let go of the expectations that come with holiday season and just flow with what is.

In all of this, I've gotten seriously lost in the sauce of Mars Rx and have been having quite the identity crisis, hence my absence here. Thanks for understanding and allowing me to be just a human girl sometimes. But i'm baaaaack baby to talk about our final new moon of 2024, which serendipitously falls right as many of us are thinking about new years intentions, manifestations, and resolutions.

Looking back, we ended 2023 with a Full Moon in Cancer, which called for some emotional purging before heading into 2024. Now we're ending 2024 with Mars Rx forcing us to slow down and reflect, while simultaneously getting this potent New Moon moment to set ourselves up for some serious building towards our 2025 ambitions.

New Moons kick off a new 6-month cycle, and even though I'm anti-gregorian calendar girlie (and therefore anti-NY resolution girlie), I find it quite sweet that we're opening a new lunar chapter right as the year turns. It feels like a cosmic gift to take a moment to look back on our achievements of 2024 (like any good Capricorn would) and set our sights on what we want to create in 2025 from a grounded yet ambitious place.

The New Moon Players

This New Moon is made for building, my babes. Capricorn, our grounded and wiiiildly creative project manager of the Zodiac who is ruled by Saturn (cosmic daddy of structure and discipline), knows how to turn dreams into reality. Buuut, there is more. We've got some extra happenings in the sky making this more than just your typical goal-setting moment:

Jupiter RX square Saturn: If you were paying attention to astrology in 2020, you might remember the major Jupiter-Saturn conjunction that kicked off a whole new 20-year cycle. Well, we're at a critical checkpoint in that story with their second square exact on Dec 24th (part 1 was August, final showdown comes June 2025). These squares present a slow-burn of cosmic tension between expansion and contraction. With Jupiter retrograde, we're being asked to review how we've been pursuing growth - are we expanding in ways that actually align with our truth, or just because we think we should? We are being asked to get creative about the containers that hold us and our dreams. Jupiter in Gemini is expanding our idea of what's possible while Saturn in Pisces is asking us to build foundations that actually support those wild dreams. As you set your New Moon intentions, think: How can you create structure that enables expansion rather than limits it? Maybe you're noticing sprouts from August that require more dirt in your container, or maybe they're cracking your pot altogether. Time to get creative and unconventional about how you're containing new and future growth.

Mars RX in Leo opposing Pluto: On November 3rd Mars faced off with Pluto for round 1, bringing up major themes around power, control, and our authentic expression. Now with Mars retrograde asking us to review and reconsider how we take action, express ourselves, and pursue our passions, we're gearing up for round 2 of this opposition on January 3rd. The final showdown comes April 27, 2025, after Mars goes direct.

This whole opposition series is asking the big questions: Where are we meeting resistance in expressing our authentic selves? What parts of our drive and ambition need to be reconsidered? What patterns around power and self-assertion are ready to transform? And with Mars retrograde, we're being asked to pause and reflect on these questions rather than charging ahead. This isn't just a review period - it's an intentional recalibration that's been building since November, pushing us to examine how we use our power and energy in totally new ways.

Venus in Aquarius square Uranus: Venus and Uranus are serving up some unexpected breakthroughs around our values, relationships, and resources. Venus in Aquarius is already in rebel mode, pushing us to think outside the box about what (and who) we truly value. When she squares off with Uranus (who lives for disruption), we might find ourselves suddenly clear about what's actually worth our energy in 2025. This could bring surprise revelations about relationships, creative inspiration that comes out of nowhere, or totally new perspectives on how we want to work with money and resources in the year ahead. Perfect timing for some innovative New Moon intentions.

When we combine visual imagery with our goals, our brains start treating these images as rewards to move toward.
