re: the luckiest day of the year
plus a new moon in cancer guide! 🦀 and this week in the stars
As I write this to you on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, Jupiter is cazimi - a term that means "in the heart of the sun." This is a transit we are #blessed with once a year as Jupiter, our big gassy daddy of expansion, growth, indulgence, and opportunity meets up with our bright, radiant Sun. Whenever any planet is cazimi, the Sun clarifies that planet's intentions with its rays, revealing fresh perspectives and new beginnings.
Now, Jupiter is considered the "greater benefic," and as you may know from reading my publication (or just existing on the astro-internet), Jupiter is currently in Cancer where it is exalted. So you can understand why folks may be overwhelmingly excited about this transit this year. EVERY.DAMN.YEAR there are sooo many astrologers calling this transit "the luckiest day of the year," I guess they must feel like today is the "luckiest day of this decade" LMAO.
Here’s why I deeply, humbly, lovingly completely disagree.
Sure, Jupiter cazimi IS beautiful, or has potential to be. But it's not about luck, it's about growth. Or rather, what it is you are dreaming of growing in this new cycle ahead. Let's not conflate the two, puh-lease. This moment is about renewal, about magnification, about ✨CLARITY✨, about wisdom, insight, belonging, identity. To reduce this to some sparkly LuCky DaY is not just boring, it’s small. We are talking about JUPITER, honey.
Not to mention: look around. Genocide. War. Ecological collapse. Mass displacement. The world is not okay. And calling this the “luckiest day of the year” lands dissonant AF when so many are actively suffering. That dissonance? It’s right there in the astrology (Saturn-Neptune in Aries cough cough, Uranus getting ready to enter Gemini…) Jupiter cazimi may bring a spark of truth or hope, but it’s happening under skies that are LOUD with unrest.
Let’s talk about what it actually means for Jupiter to get reborn in Cancer.
Cancer rules the foundations: home, family, security, the economy, the soil we plant our dreams in. So Jupiter’s rebirth here isn’t about winning the lottery or upgrading your apartment (though maybe those things happen). It’s asking what kind of growth will last? What kind of expansion serves not just you, but all of us?
Because individual luck means nothing when the systems around us are designed to extract and exploit.
And we’ve gotta be so for real about the conditions we’re working with. The soil is fucked. We’re trying to plant seeds of hope in a world actively working against collective care. Choosing nurturance, connection, safety, that’s resistance work now. This cazimi brings a flash of clarity and hope, yes, but it’s not happening in a vacuum.
Let’s zoom out. Look who else is on stage right now.
We’ve got Pluto in Aquarius demanding we rebuild society FOR the people. Saturn and Neptune are both in Aries, grinding up against each other, caught between structure and surrender. And they’re doing this dance in Aries, aheeem, the god of war, the sign that fights first and asks questions later. The last time Neptune was in Aries? The Civil War.
When Saturn and Neptune come together like this, dreams crash into reality. Illusions dissolve. New visions take shape in the rubble of the old. There’s grief, yes. But also mutual aid. Resistance. Resilience. Communities holding each other when the state won’t.
And Uranus? It enters Gemini this July, a place that historically has coincided with major war: the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War II. That’s the track record.
So yeah. We’re getting a gorgeous Jupiter cazimi moment of clarity and potential. But it’s happening in a dumpster fire. And honestly? That’s exactly when and where we need to plant seeds of hope.
From Cazimi to New Moon
The very next day, we get the New Moon in Cancer and babes, this lunation is loaded.
It’s snuggled right up with Jupiter, so it’s loud for new beginnings. But it’s also talking to all those background planetary dancers I just mentioned: it squares Saturn + Neptune in Aries, sextiles Mars in Virgo, and inconjuncts Pluto in Aquarius.
The square to Saturn + Neptune makes it feel like you’re trying to plant something while the ground is still frozen from old bullshit. The care you’re trying to give yourself? Might piss off the systems that profit from your pain. Your efforts to create real belonging challenge the way things have been rigged.
And here’s where it gets really interesting (shoutout to my brilliant witch friend
,please go check her out, who brought this to light for me) this New Moon forms a YOD (aka “Finger of God”) pointing directly at Pluto in Aquarius.Yods are rare. They hit like a celestial cattle prod. They create this feeling that something is being asked of you something you can’t ignore. This one? It’s about transformation that starts with you, and ripples outward into the collective.
Pluto, at the apex of the Yod, is the sneaky Dom of this new moon group chat whisper-yelling: “THIS is what all your personal healing and practical service work is actually for.” We’re not talking about reparenting for inner peace alone, we’re talking about reparenting for POWER. All that Cancerian self-nurturing? It’s building your capacity to hold real power. The kind that doesn’t hoard, doesn’t dominate, the kind that protects, that builds, that feeds.
Every time you choose to reparent yourself instead of repeating old or harmful patterns, you're making micro-adjustments that shift the entire trajectory of how power operates in the world. Every time you set a boundary instead of people-pleasing yourself into depletion, you’re creating new circuitry. Every moment of community care over competition isn’t just a personal win, it a culture change.
This lunation wants you to know: your healing is not separate from collective liberation, it’s the training ground for it.
You're going to see so many astrologers this week stuck in the sparkles, talking about this New Moon conjunct Jupiter and how magical and abundant it is. Hiding behind Jupiter which I get cause he biiiiiiig. But who’s actually running the new moon chart? It’s not Jupiter. It’s Pluto.
While everyone else is posting about manifesting wishes, the deeper story is about dismantling the structures that keep us divided and becoming someone strong and soft enough to build something better.
Consider this your heads-up: something profound is trying to emerge. Not because Jupiter is handing out lottery tickets, but because you are being called to expand your capacity for care, creativity, and community. Starting with how you care for and define yourself.
The revolution needs people who refuse to harden their hearts.
Woof.
Before I dive into some ritual ideas for working with this new moon and cazimi portal, let’s take a look at what else is happening astrologically this week. And real talk, if reading all this has you feeling some sort of way about your own chart or what this means for your personal journey, maybe it's time to book a reading with me. My July books are filling up fast, so grab your spot now if you're interested in going deeper.
💫This Week in the Stars 6/23/25 - 6/29/25💫
Monday, June 23: Sun square Neptune Things feel foggy as the Sun squares Neptune. Probably don't trust any major life decisions made today…your intuition might be on point, but your ability to see through bullshit could be compromised.
Tuesday, June 24: Mercury square Chiron + Sun conjunct Jupiter (CAZIMI) Before the cazimi hits, Mercury squares Chiron which might bring up some tender spots around communication and family wounds. If conversations feel extra loaded today, it’s your cue to pay attention to what needs healing. Then we get the main event…Jupiter cazimi in Cancer asking us to expand our capacity for care and community - this IS NOT just about wishing for personal luck.
Wednesday, June 25: New Moon in Cancer
Girrrrl, scroll back up if you need the deets on this. It’s a mouthful.
Thursday, June 26: Mercury sextile Uranus + Sun sextile Mars + Mercury enters Leo
Mercury connects wiht Uranus bringing unexpected downloads. If some random solution hits you out of nowhere, don't dismiss it. The Sun teams up with Mars in Virgo, giving you the energy to actually DO something with all those cazimi and new moon insights. Then Mercury moves into Leo, shifting us from Cancer's emotional depth to Leo's unapologetic boldness. Time to loudly and boldly say what you really think.
Friday, June 27: Mercury trine Saturn
This is "put your money where your mouth is" energy and perfect for making promises you actually intend to keep about the changes you want to see in the world.
Saturday, June 28: Mercury trine Neptune
Mercury vibes with Neptune, bringing dreamy inspiration and creative downloads that feel both magical and possible. Great day for artistic expression or letting your imagination run wild. Don’t forget to write down any brilliant ideas before they float away.
Sunday, June 29: Mercury opposite Pluto
The week ends with Mercury facing off against Pluto, which could bring some intense truth-telling or power struggles in communication. If someone's trying to manipulate you with words, trust your bullshit detector, it's probably going off for a reason.
Rituals for the Cancer New Moon + Jupiter Cazimi Portal
Bath Ritual
This bath is a soft spell for becoming. A Cancerian cleanse and reparenting ritual all in one.
Fill your tub with warm water and a generous handful of epsom salt. We're creating a mini ocean here, calling in Cancer's elemental medicine. Light some candles. Optional but beautiful: add herbs like lemon balm, rose, or chamomile or any plants that soothe the nervous system and tend to the heart.
As the water runs, speak to it:
"Wash away what I inherited that no longer serves me. Strengthen the gifts that have been passed down through my lineage. Nourish what I am choosing to become."
When you enter the bath, let a conversation unfold with your inner child. What do they need to hear? What promises can you make them now, as the adult they've been waiting for? Also spend time honoring the ancestral gifts flowing through you… the resilience, the creativity, the love, the strength that carried your people through. Let yourself feel gratitude for both the healing you're doing AND the gifts you've always carried.
Stay as long as you need. When you're done, thank the water spirits, the ancestors (for both their struggles and their gifts), and your inner child.
Breaking the Cycle
This ritual is for working with Pluto’s pressure and transformational power.
Sit with a candle and two pieces of paper. Light your candle and invite Pluto in to reveal ideas of power to you. Sit and consider your first interactions with power and how you have come to understand power in your life and this world.
On the first, write: “How did I learn power works?”
Think of the systems you grew up in. The roles you were taught to play. Write it all out.
On the second, write: “How do I want power to work instead?” Consider archetypes (characters, actors, cartoons, real ass people) who embody this version of power. Write them down on the same piece of paper.
Burn the first paper (safely) and as you do so thank Pluto for it’s presence and release it. Place the second somewhere you’ll see it this month like a mirror, your altar, your notebook. Actively embody the archetypes of this power through your dress, hair, makeup or general energy for the day. See what changes + transforms.
Becoming the Ancestor Meditation
Cancer connects us to the ones who came before and to the ones we will one day become.
Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Imagine yourself 100 years from now, as an ancestor someone lights a candle for. Where are you? What wisdom do you hold? What systems did you help transform? What did you protect, build, or repair?
Ask your future ancestor self: “What do I need to focus on during this Jupiter cazimi and Cancer New Moon to become the person you are?”
Let the answers rise gently. Don’t rush. Let them arrive like waves. Take notes.
Community Care Spell
This spell is simple and sacred. It helps shift the New Moon’s magic from “me” to “we.”
Write down three things your community deeply needs right now. Light a candle. Speak each need aloud. Ask for support in becoming part of the answer.
Then choose one small action you can take this lunar cycle to move that needle. Maybe it’s mutual aid. Maybe it is just listening to someone. Maybe it is hosting a gathering to make protest signs.
Close by saying: “May my personal growth serve our collective liberation.”
Leave the list on your altar. Let it anchor your intention.
This is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Impeccable astrology take. I can't wait to do this ritual tonight 🌊🐚
Even just reading these ritual instructions is a balm. Thank you! Looking forward to carrying them out, feeling their effects and noticing them ripple outward.
