what even is the stellar situation?
Iām so glad you asked. Hi, Iām Lily Hussey aka goodhussey aka just a girl deeply obsessed with ritualizing life, validating this bizarre human experience through astrology and studying things that Iāll never be done studying or even find a solid answer to. This is my little corner of the world wide web where I get to really, deeply share and get deep and nerdy about astrology, witchcraft and other esoteric shit. Iām a lifelong student of astrology, a witch, an artist and a jewelry maker. Iām constantly playing with the intersection of all these identities to create something interesting and meaningful to support you, qt pie reader, to make meaning in your own identies.
so why hang out here? there are a like a bajillion astrology newsletters to subscribe to here on substackā¦
Another FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC question! Well, iāve been interested in astrology my whole life but have been a more devoted student since about 2013. I have studied under rebecca gordon, aliza kelly, annabel gat, cristina farrella, and daniel larkin. I have self-studied with many greats, some of my favs including steven forrest, demetra george, liz greene, howard sasportas, steven arroyo, alice sparklykatā¦just to name a few. Iām in the constant pursuit of understanding how astrology can serve us in our modern context. astrology evolves with us IMO and is a product of the world we are living in. i love and respect and have studied with my hellenistic colleagues, but this is distinctly not my flavor of astrology. i like uncovering weird, hidden parts of astrology and diving deep into them to understand what type of meaning they can make for us. after many years i have finally accepted that my intuition is a co-pilot to my astrologer brain, rather than needing to over-astro intellectualize your chart or the transits of the week, i listen to what is screaming loudest to my intuition and jump from there. my practice is ever evolving and substack is helping me constantly refine my voice, style and purpose.
my north node in aquarius is conjunct my mercury and sharing on this platform has flipped on a bright, space ship style flood light realization that I LOVE creating for the collective. breaking down what is happening in the stars this week and contextualizing it for your life (alongside some rituals, cause my 6th house stellium is constantly ritualizing life) has been a great joy since beginning this fools journey as someone who doesnāt consider themselves āa writerā.
what you will find here guaranteed free every month is a guide to the FULL MOON and NEW MOON. iām a cancer rising, i canāt escape the moon. sharing astro insights as well as rituals and tarot spreads for each lunation is a long time passion that will always and forever remain my entirely free love letter to all of you.
if you choose to go paid here, you get a weekly newsletter called āthis week in the starsā that shares the upcoming transits for the week, an overview of the moon phases we will be moving through this week and rituals that you may want to participate in during said moon phases, as well as my thoughts on existing in the collective at this given moment.
iām currently playing with more additional content for paid subscribers. currently itās quite random but in 2025 expect it to grow into something beautiful.
ok, but whatās with āgoodhusseyā? what does that mean?
identity, to say the very least, is complex. my own identity is something I always have and still continue to struggle with. my last name is hussey. do you know what a hussy is? āAn impudent or immoral girl or woman.ā and the etymology of the word? āa careless, lazy housewife; a woman who is uncleanly as regards her person or her house; a slattern.ā so, I guess at some point being a bad housewife meant you were also a trollop⦠lol patriarchy.
i named my astrological, ritual, and jewelry-making practice goodhussey because everything i do is a nod to the complexity of our identity. astrology, IMO, is a tool to help us see the parts of ourselves we have a hard time witnessing. it offers us the opportunity to identify and hold the more complex aspects of ourselves in reverence.
when we understand the archetypes we carry within us, we can unleash our innate superpowers. we can shapeshift into our multidimensionality at our own will.
through personal style and adornment, we can deeply embody the multitudes we contain by dressing as/for the archetypes we hold.
TL;DR goodhussey is a paradoxal nod to the complex, multitudinous experience of incarnating as a human.
